Funeral services for Mr. Emmett B. Bilbrey, 91, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Burial was in Eckels Cemetery.
Mr. Bilbrey died Saturday, March 18 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was a mechanic, of the Baptist faith, a member of the VFW, and a veteran who received numerous medals and awards including the Good Conduct, the Expert Combat, the Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal in World War II.
Born June 25, 1914, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Sammie and Sallie (Livingston) Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean (Bilbrey) Bilbrey.
Survivors include a foster son, Jackie Anderson of Cookeville; 2 brothers, Frank Bilbrey of Livingston and Roy Lee Bilbrey; and 3 sisters, Cleo Harris of Livingston, Clara Sells of McMinnville, and Georgia Romine of North Carolina.
Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice in remembrance of Mr. Bilbrey.
