He was born July 7, 1916, in Grand Valley (Indian Creek), Idaho to Gus and Isabel Hanson. The family lived in Swan Valley until he was 14 years old, when they moved to Rexburg and he attended Madison High School.
He started worked on the Edwin Harris farm in 1935, where he met his future wife, Verla D. Harris. They were married October 7, 1936, in Ririe. He later worked with his brother as a building contractor until 1992. Verla passed away July 8, 1990.
On March 23, 1991, he married Aliene Atkinson in Idaho Falls.
Dormand loved fishing and hunting.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
