| Birth: | Apr. 15, 1781 | | Death: | Jul. 30, 1811 | British Bare-Knunckle Boxing Champion (circa 1800 to 1803). His habit of wearing a cravat in his favorite colours of dark blue birds-eye on a navy blue background set a fashion for the necktie still known to this day as a "Belcher". At 20 he became the youngest ever champion, and was nicknamed "The Napoleon of the ring" for his resemblance (both physical and tactical) to the French leader. He was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992. (bio by: Pluto)
