SENATOR STACY
Senator Richmond Stacy, of Cherokee county, died at his home five miles north of Gaffney Saturday morning. He had not been ill, and had returned from Columbia the evening before to spend the week-end with members of his family. In the nature of things his death comes as a great shock to his family and to his constituents. Senator Stacy was elected last summer, succeeding former senator T.B. Butler, now lieutenant-governor of South Carolina, as the representative of Cherokee county. He had served previously both as a member of the house of representatives and as a senator and was therefore not without legislative experience. His record in the senate was constructive and and his attitude towards the development of Cherokee county was reflected in his interest in Cherokee county's paving program in which he had been interested in recent weeks.
