History - Jane was converted when 14 years old and joined the Presbyterian Church at Orangeville, New York. She lived with her parents until she was twenty one years old when she married Eli Porter Mills. Soon after they moved to Michigan which was then a wilderness. The young couple made their first home with his parents and helped carry on a large farm.
Their children were: Ernest, Herbert Leslie, Alverda Delos, Harriet Elmirea, Augusta Andrews, Homer Bertrand, Robert Porter and Simeon.
After living in Michigan they moved to Illinois, then went to Iowa where they had a farm. When the news came, Eli, like a great many, got the gold fever.
The family moved back to Illinois, and the husband went to California. Here Mrs. Mills engaged in the millinary business while he was in California.
