Lloyd Allen "Al" Todd, 75

March 13, 1942 ~ April. 17, 2017

Lloyd Allen was born March 13, 1942 to B.E. and Dorothy (Kinsley) Todd in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was a veteran.

He married Barbara, and in their 46 years of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter and three grandchildren.

We went to the First Baptist Church in Blair, Nebraska with him and Barbara for many years, often eating pizza together after church and making friendships that would last a lifetime. He served as the head of the deacon board for several years.

He was mayor of Kennard, Nebraska for several years, and he, Barbara and Jennifer lived there, just west "on the good side" of the railroad tracks, on a place with a barn and outbuildings, but within city limits of Kennard. Before and during this time, he worked in management at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Omaha.

There was a country road "cutoff" from Highway 133 to Kennard that shortened the miles from Omaha rather than going through Blair. It took Al a while, but he got a city lamppost on Highway 133 at the corner of that country road. The state wasn't sure about it at first--Al paid for it himself--but it stands there to this day and gives light so people don't miss the short way to Kennard.

They moved to Bellevue, Nebraska in 1998, and became part of the First Baptist Church there.

He was an active member of the Republican Party, former mayor of Kennard, NE, former Chairman Board of Directors of Metropolitan Area Planning Association (MAPA), Member of National Association of Regional Councils.

Al became very ill, and died the day after Easter Sunday, on Monday, April 17, 2017. He was in hospice, at a Bellevue Hospital, and passed away peacefully. He was 75 years old, 1 month and 3 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left with memories are his wife, Barbara; daughter Jennifer Byington (Allen); grandchildren Kathryn, Sophia & Rachel; cousin Richard Kinsley (Phyllis); other loving relatives.

The funeral was Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m. First Baptist Church, 23rd & Hancock, Bellevue, Nebraska. Over 200 people were present.

At the funeral, his pastor, Carl Hubbert, said that Al always had a servant's heart. Al never minded work, and in church he was part of Bible Studies, helped run the sound booth, and was on church council. It took Al nearly a week to get the strength to come to his last church council meeting, but he came. When Al was in hospice, in the hospital, the pastor visited him, and Al asked Pastor Carl "Hey, how's money doing at church?!"

Al asked Christ many years ago to be his Lord and Savior, and it can be said of Al, "Well done, good and faithful servant".

A verse he lived by was I Thessalonians 5:18." In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

Musical Selections were "In The Garden"; "Morning Has Broken" and "How Great Thou Art".

The family and friends met for luncheon at the Family Life Center located across the street, for continued visiting and memories.

We will miss him.

There will be a private inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery.
