CALVIN BREWSTER,61, DIED MONDAY

FORMER BLAIR MAN, FATHER OF LARGE FAMILY, DIED IN MILFORD

Calvin N. Brewster, 61, former resident of Blair, died Monday night at the Soldiers' Home in Milford, Nebraska. Father of a large family, with five children and five grandchildren residing in Blair, Mr. Brewster was well known here.

Calvin Nathan Brewster, son of Alvin and Nancy Brewster, was born September 2, 1875, on a farm south of Kennard, and lived there during the early years of his life. When the Spanish| American war broke out, he enlisted June 10, 1898, in Company C., Third Nebraska Regiment, and served the duration of the war, being honorably discharged May 11, 1899.

Returning to Kennard

He was united in marriage to Minnie Edwards of Kennard in October of that year. They farmed there until 1914, when they went to Decatur. Three years later they came to Blair, and in 1924, Mr. Brewster moved to Omaha and was a resident of that city until going to Milford four years ago.

He was a member of Lee Forby camp, Spanish-American war veterans, of Omaha, and of Washington County post No. 1251, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blair.

Surviving Mr. Brewster is his second wife, the former Enid Faye Slausson of Omaha, to whom he was married October 14, 1929; seven children, Pearl, Grant and Ella Sue Brewster, Mrs. Calvin Cole and Mrs. George Lantry, all of Blair; O. L. Brewster of Plainview, Texas, and Clifford Brewster of Omaha. A daughter, Mary Brewster, died in infancy.

Has Two Stepchildren

Other survivors include two stepchildren, Willis Slausson of Omaha and Mrs. William McCormick; three brothers, O.P. Brewster of Decatur, Illinois, Z. Brewster of Helena, Oklahoma, and Al Brewster of Placerville, California; and six grandchildren, five of them in Blair and one in Plainview, Texas

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kennard Methodist church, with interment to follow in Kennard cemetery.
