Reta C. (Harvey) Allgood, daughter of James T. and Pearl Jones Harvey, was born on Wednesday; April 30, 1919, in Evans; Mahaska County, Iowa. She was a 1938 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Reta worked as a seamstress at the Continental Overall Factory for several years and later as a waitress and a cook at Elmhurst Country Club. She met her husband, William John "Bill" Allgood, while working at Continental. They married on Sunday; April 12, 1942, in Kirksville; Adair County, Missouri. She was a member of the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past commander. She enjoyed collecting coins and antiques; she especially cherished spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Reta C. (Harvey) Allgood, 87, passed away on Monday morning; January 15, 2007 at Pleasant Park Estates Nursing Home in Oskaloosa; Mahaska County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are her children: John William " Jack" and his wife, Linda Allgood, of Englewood; Arapahoe County, Colorado and Judie K. Miller of Oskaloosa. Her grandchildren; Brenda Sue Dalbey and her husband, Randy of Winterset; Madison County, Iowa. B.J. Miller of Oskaloosa; Jennifer Lynn Allgood and William John Michael Allgood, both of Englewood, Colorado and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Sunday; March 27, 1983; two sisters: Irma Hanna Dursky and Iva S. Kentfield; a brother, James T. Harvey and a grandson, Michael Dean Miller. May they rest in peace. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to greet visitors. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Friday afternoon; January 19, 2007 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Floyd Cooper officiating. Following services, Mrs. Allgood will be laid to rest at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Mahaska County Post #21 in memory of Reta and Bill Allgood.
