Peter was born April 18, 1931 to Francis and Beatrix Volk in Hauge, North Dakota. He was the youngest son of the family of 12. Peter attended school then helped on the family farm. He later started drilling water wells for the farmers in the area, including Lawrence Welk.
He met the love of his life Evelyn M. Couser and they were united in marriage on September 5, 1958. To this marriage 2 children were born, Dennis and Margaret.
Later they moved to Wecota, South Dakota where he was a farm hand for the Holscher Brothers Farm for 38 years retiring in 1993. After his retirement, he and Evelyn moved to Blair and made the community their home. After Evelyn’s passing Peter became a resident of the Lakeland Estates area for two and a half years and then moved to the Good Shepherd Community in Blair where he was fondly know as Pistol Pete the Music Man.
Peter loved to farm, weld, deer hunting, making sausage, playing his organ and accordion, polka dancing, and playing pinochle.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Dennis (Starla) Volk of Rapid City, South Dakota, Margaret (Allen) Stoltz of Blair, Nebraska, Grandchildren Dennis, Brooke of Rapid City, South Dakota, Derek (Rachel) Stoltz of Chicago, Illinois, Travis (Tara) Stoltz of Corona, California and Hope (Mark) Uphoff of Blair, Nebraska, great grandchildren, Luke, Lilly, Miranda, Sawyer, and Reed.
