| Birth: | Jun. 16, 1879 Elk Rapids Antrim County Michigan, USA | | Death: | Oct. 19, 1966 Newberg Yamhill County Oregon, USA |  US Congressman. During the Spanish-American War, he served with the 33rd Regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry in the campaign at Santiago, Cuba. After the war, he attended the University of Michigan and moved to Oregon in 1901. He entered the Forest Service as a ranger at Fremont National Forest Oregon, in 1907 and served in Minnesota and Montana until 1917. In 1923, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses serving until 1933. After his term, he rejoined the National Forest Service at Milwaukee Wisconsin, retired in 1941 and moved to Newberg, Oregon. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
