Benjamin Longyear, son of Christopher Longyear and Maria Cunyes, born June 2, 1795 in Ulster County, NY and baptised Kingston, NY, Oct 2, 1795. He married, in Ulster County, NY, in 1820, Nellie Short, who was born May 21, 1799, and died in Grass Lake, Mich., Aug. 29, 1872. He was Supervisor, Town of Shandaken, 1835 to 1838, a merchant, machinist, and engaged in various kinds of business in which he was very successful. In 1819 he was listed as ensign in Ulster County, 131st Resgiment of Infantry. In 1839 he removed to Grass Lake, Mich., where he died Aug. 21, 1871, and is buried with his wife in the west cemetery.

NY; and his brother, Zachariah "Longyor", is buried in Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Livingston Co. NY.
