Charles M. "C.M." Clifton, 85, of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in Knoxville. Charles was born in Grainger County. He worked in the mechanical end of the newspaper business for 22 years in Michigan, Tennessee, and Florida. In 1975, he returned to Pigeon Forge and started Service Master of the Smokies, which he and Alma operated for 18 years. The next 10 years were spent with Clifton's Cleaning Service. Charles was a charter member of Smoky Mountain Christian Church in Sevierville and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall and Gertrude Clifton, and Charles and Ida Perry; parents, Everette Clifton and Susie Clifton Dyer; sons, Charles R., Gregory, and Daniel Clifton; infant brother, Tommy Clifton; and sisters, Joyce Lane and Elizabeth Golden. Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alma Clifton; daughters, Deneane Odom and husband, Paul, and Kathy Clifton; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Shihan and husband, Harry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 18th, in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, with the graveside service and interment to follow at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge. Rev. Max Clifton and Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, March 18th, at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
