US Marine 1LT Paul Edward Rudeen Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Hickory, NC.
US Marine First Lieutenant Paul Edward Rudeen Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps, 1LT Rudeen served our country until August 24th, 1965 in Hong Kong. He was 26 years old and was married. It was reported that Paul died when his KC-130 Tanker crashed at Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. His body was recovered. Paul was born on September 16th, 1938 in Asheville, North Carolina. 1LT Rudeen is on panel 05E, line 127 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our County as an Air Traffic Controller for 3 years.
Eddie went to Lee-Edwards High School and Western Carolina where he ruled the basketball courts. He is the Son of Paul Rudeen Sr and he leaves behind a wife Evelyn and their son Glenn.
He served with VMFA-513, Marine Air Group-11, 1st Marine Air Wing, 3rd Marine Amphibious Force.
Some of his awards and decorations include The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
