Jazz Musician. Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a trumpeter and bandleader of the Floyd Standifer Quartet who helped establish the Jazz music scene in Seattle and the rest of the Northwestern part of the United States. A versatile musician, he also played the tenor saxophone and was an accomplished vocalist. After beginning his career during the 1950s, Standifer performed with music legends Quincy Jones and Ray Charles. (bio by: C.S.)
