Alice Mary Wheeler, 93, of Alton, MO, was born June 3, 1911, in Douglas County, MO, and died Aug. 16, 2004, at Shady Oaks Healthcare.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Frost and husband, Leonard; four grandsons – James and Junior Deckard, Joseph and Charlie Strong; two granddaughters – Loretta Morgan and Shannon Simmons; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a host of step-children and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sarah Ann Walker-Parsons; three husbands – Fred Levan, Ona Strong and Fred Wheeler; a son, Joe Bill Strong; two grandsons – Randy Deckard and Kelley Strong; five brothers; three sisters.
The funeral was Aug. 19 at Clary Chapel in Alton with Grover Pingleton officiating. Burial in New Salem Cemetery.
