Article from "The Clinch Valley News," 12 September, 1902 (Taborville, VA):
"Mr. Watt Compton, one of our most popular young farmers and Miss Mariah Belcher, the most beautiful and accomplished daughter of Robert Belcher of Clover Bottom, West Virginia, were united in marriage last Wednesday at the home of the bride's father and came to Taborville on Thursday where they will make their future home. We wish them a long, happy and prosperous life."
They lived at Littlesburg, Mercer Co., WV and sold 3 and a half acres of inherited property at Mud Fork, Tazewell Co., VA, to the Virginia Company for the Falls Mills dam and lake. They then resided for most of their remaining lives in Kegley, WV.
Watt was well-known in the area for speaking at the Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He was medium height and had blue eyes and black hair.
