Birth: Sep. 15, 1788
Montgomery County
Virginia, USA
Death: Aug. 27, 1843
Hancock County
Illinois, USA

Daughter of Abraham Van Hooser and Mary Williams

Married - William Stewart, Abt 1807, Overton County, Tennessee

Children - Squire Stewart, Riley Stewart, Levi Stewart, William Jackson Stewart, Urban Van Stewart

Death - Stewart, Elizabeth. Sometime between 21-28 August 1843 at Nauvoo; 54 years old; bloody flux [dysentary or bloody stools]. (Nauvoo Neighbor 30 August 1843; Nauvoo Sexton Record, page 8.)

Seventy eight deaths were reported in the 3rd Ward of Nauvoo, Illinois out of a membership of 975. Only fourteen records indicated more than just "dead." Elizabeth was not included in the fourteen names.

History - William Stewart went to Madison County, Illinois in 1811 and returned to Overton, Tennessee during War of 1812. He left his family and eventually married Rebecca Llewellyn. She joined the Mormon Church in 1836.

Shortly after a son, Urban Van Stewart, was born William and Elizabeth Van Hooser were separated. Finally in 1824 William submitted a divorce petition. This was submitted to the General Assembly of the State of Tennesssee in the fall of 1824. Fifty-two men signed the petition."

Rebecca Llewellyn and William moved to Fayette County, Illinois where he is found in the 1830 census. About 1834 he moved to what became Lee County, Iowa and is listed in the 1836 Territory Census there but died in 1837. His widow is listed in the 1840 census of Lee County, Iowa.

As for Elizabeth Van Hooser, she is listed in the 1830 census of that county. After her parents died, she moved to Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, where she died in 1843.

Grandson, Henry Pulaski Stewart, buried in this cemetery.
