Helen Mildred Dodge was born November 11, 1918, in Yoakum, Lavaca County, Texas, the fourth of seven children and second daughter born to Weldon Chester and Mildred Sue (Dally) Dodge. Helen, along with her parents and siblings, Weldon Chester, Edna Thelma, Willard Earl, Robert Henry and Howard Alvin, relocated to Dunsmuir, Siskiyou County, California, in 1925, where sister Doris Ruth was born. In 1927, the children and their mother returned to reside in Texas.
On April 27, 1934, Helen married Louie Henry Compton making their home in Waco, McLennan County, and Hillsboro, Hill County, for forty-four years until his death on May 16, 1978, in Waco. Louie and Helen had four children: Earl Wayne, their first child who died in infancy, Helen Louise, Patsy Janene and Gary Lynn.
Helen was also the wife of Homer N Rowell of Waco. They married June 2, 1979, and were married eleven years until his death on September 2, 1990. Helen married August A Pederson on June 23, 1991.
Helen passed away on May 19, 2006, in Waco, at the age of 87.
