September 5, 1774 a company of 50 Minute men was raised by the town (Warwick). Samuel Williams, Capt, James Bell and Lt. Amzi Doolittle, Ensign.

He was a Lt during the Revolutionary War, VT Militia.

After marriage in 1757 moved to Warwick, MA. In 1777 moved to Townsend, VT and gave sons Amzi, Origin and Roswell each a tract of forest.
In 1824 he moved to Winchester, NH with sons Amzi and Origin.
