Santa Fe New Mexican, The (NM) - Friday, March 28, 2003:

Apolonio or Sandy Sandoval, age 86, of Santa Fe, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Socorro Rubalcava Sandoval.

Mr. Sandoval retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratories. He was a member of St. Francis Cathedral, Sanctuario de Chimayó, Veteran of Foreign War (VFW), Disabled American Veteran (DAV), and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Sandy enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, animals, cars, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 90790, Albuquerque, NM 87199 or the Carmelites Monastery.

He is survived by his daughter, Margie and husband Greg Allen; sons: Gene and Ed Sandoval; brother, Ruben Sandoval; sisters: Flora Leyba and Dora Vigil; grandchildren: Marina, David, Carlos, and Natalia Sandoval; great-grandchild, Robert Anthony Sandoval; and his grand dogs: Toodles, Squirt, and Flash.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at 4 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 9 a.m., St. Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
