Amalia "Mollie" Navarro was the third child born to Filomeno and Bernardita Roybal Aguilar in Ribera, NM on February 15, 1923. The family moved to Bernalillo in 1941, where she met and married Antonio Navarro Jr. in 1944. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary in January. Mollie passed away on February 8, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. In addition to her husband, Mollie is survived by two sons, Gilbert of Silver City and Anthony Navarro and his wife, Lorrie of Albuquerque, four daughters, Patsy and her husband, Harold Dominguez of Bernalillo, Veronica and her husband, Charles Quintana of Peņa Blanca, Christy and her husband, Felix Silva III of Placitas and Jennifer and her husband, David Archibeque of Grants, NM. Mollie is also survived by her grandchildren, David and Roberta Navarro, Wayne and Jonathan Dominguez, Aaron Navarro and Scott Silva, Crystal and Carlos Quintana, Adam and Patrick Archibeque and Syranda Navarro. Her great-grandchildren are Steven, Nicole, Brittnie and Josh Navarro, Samantha and Aryanna and Jaden Dominguez, Madison and Luke Navarro, Javier Quinones and Carlos Quintana Jr. and Isaac Archibeque and one great-great-grandchild, Damian James Navarro, her brothers, Filemon Aguilar of Bernalillo, Raymond Aguilar of Fountain Valley, CA, Edward Aguilar of El Paso, TX and Leroy and her only sister, Genevieve Sandoval of Jemez Springs. Mollie has been the matriarch of this Aguilar family for 49 years. Mollie is dearly loved by scores of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mollie was the Past Regent and state district deputy of the Catholic Daughters, Past President of the Bernalillo Women's Club, also a Eucharist Minister, belongs to the Our Lady of Sorrows Spanish Choir, and Volunteered at the Bernalillo Tourist Center, was on the Board of Directors of the Sandoval County Senior Citizen Center and was a life-long member of the Catholic Church. Mollie retired from the Bernalillo Public School as cafeteria manager. Mollie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Hipolito, Cayetano, Avenecio, Manuel, Gilbert and Ernest and her sisters, Rita, Mary, Antonia and Juanita, a stillborn.
A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo on Friday, February 10, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2006 and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Her grandsons will be the pallbearers and her siblings will be honorary pallbearers. A special thank you to Doctor Lovette and her staff at the Women's Hospital.
