J.Lester was born January 14, 1900, on the family farm east of Lyons, Nebraska.
He lived in Lyons all his life except for seven years in the early 1970s, when he moved to Blair, Nebraska.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons and a District 56 school board member for more than 10 years.
He married H. Marie Baker August 19, 1923, in Tekamah, Nebraska. They were blessed with a son and a daughter. Sadly, she died November 16, 1965.
He then married Bessie Sack February 8, 1968 in Blair. She died January 5, 1976.
J. Lester Dyson, 87, died September 2, 1987, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland. He was a farmer.
Survivors include one son, Don of Lyons; one daughter, Mrs. Marlyn (Harriett) Smith of Lyons; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald W. of Iowa City, Iowa, and William of Long Beach, California, and one sister, Jeanette Johnson of Lyons.
Funeral services were held September 4, 1987, at Bethany Lutheran Church. Rev. Bill Triebe conducted the services and offered words of comfort. Burial followed in the Lyons Cemetery.
