James A. Settle, born 1852, Belmont Co., OH and his wife Amelia moved to Bear Wallow Hill, reared a large family. Their first three children died within two months of each other. Cora A., Thomas and John died August 1 through Oct. 8, 1897 in Hambelen Township, buried Goshen Cemetery. Son Ulysses Jake Settle married Minnie Schrougham (1899): daughter of Vincent and Catherine E. Alder Schrougham. Other issue were Ella May, James Wesley, Charles E., Margaret Jane, Bertha Viola and Jesse Oral. They reared the grand son Ora Snow, Son of Cora and Thoams snow. Jake and Minnie Settle(s) reared eight sons and three daughters. Their first home was upon the Bearwallow Hill bear the former home of Marcus Dickey. Their son Morris settles was elected first Mayor of Lawrence, IN. November 1959, was reelected five more terms serving 24 years. Son Ray E. returned to Brown County. commuting to RCA in Indianapolis. He died Nov. 1, 1986, is buried in Henderson Cemetery, His wife still lives R.R. 4, Nashville on the Green Valley Road
