Daughter of Lieutenant James Arthur Chetwynd Inglis of Scotland and Ida Evelyn Kerr, a Scot, of Melbourne, Australia.

Also known by the name Sheila Legge, from her first marriage to Rupert Maximilian Faris Legge.

Gained notoriety in 1936 (under Sheila Legge) as a Surrealist performance artist when she stood in Trafalgar Square in an ensemble inspired by a Salvador Dalí painting, with her head completely obscured by a flower arrangement. The most famous photograph of the performance shows pigeons perching on her outstretched arms.

Second wife of John Alan Patrick Lodwick (1916–1959), a British novelist.

Died of Pneumonia and Pleurisy at Villa Boramar, Banyuls-sur-Mer, Pyrenees-Orientales, France.

Gravesite Details

Sheila Lodwick was initially buried in the vault of a Catalan family. Her remains have since been moved to a common grave and the original vault cover now sits beside a wall.
