| Birth: | Nov. 29, 1790 Norwich Windsor County Vermont, USA | | Death: | Mar. 30, 1883 Elmira Chemung County New York, USA |  US Congressman from New York. During the War of 1812 he enlisted as a Private in the Vermont Militia. He was later a Captain of Engineers in the Regular Army. After returning to Vermont he served two terms as Windsor County Sheriff. In 1820 Partridge moved to Cold Spring, New York, where he operated a store. In 1830 he moved to Chemung County and settled in Elmira in 1837. He continued to operate a store and was active in other businesses. In 1840 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat and served a single term, 1841 to 1843. After leaving Congress he operated a real estate business and also engaged in farming, remaining active in both until his retirement. During the Civil War he was active on several committees advocating support for the Union. (bio by: Bill McKern)
