Melvin Leroy Hill, age 81 of Gatlinburg, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years. After retiring from military service, he began serving his community while employed with the cities of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Melvin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great- grandfather, papaw and friend to all and he never met a stranger.

Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Ann Hill; parents, Thomas and Anna Hill; sisters, Mary Slusser, Catherine Wigglesworth, Nora Frances Cox; brother, Raymond Hill

His survivors include:
Loving wife of 62 years, Faye Hill
Sons: Wayne Hill, Doug Hill and wife Jamie
Grandchildren: Daniel Spear, Chris Hill, Priscilla Workman (David), Eric Hill (Cassie), Brandon Hill (Jamie), Dustin Fain, Austin Hill
Great-grandchildren: Westley, Makayla, Micah, Gabe, Boddie, Cali, Jackson
Many special great-great- grandchildren
Sister: Barbara Redmon
Sister-in-law: Sue Jones (Jerry)
Special friends: Bill Delozier, Bill Steel, Annette and Gary Guy

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.

The family will receive friends 12-2 PM Saturday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with funeral service following at 2 PM with Rev. Jerry Ogle and James Perry officiating.
