Mrs. Wildon (Polly) Durell, age 88, a resident of Paxton, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, in a Crestview hospital. A native of Alabama, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Katherine L. Weldon Webster. She was a graduate of the Florida State University for Women and was a public educator for 40 years. She taught in Liberty, DeFuniak Springs and Paxton, where she was the first boys and girls basketball coach in 1936. She operated a dairy in Paxton with her first husband, E.B. Miller, who died in 1962, and later remarried Lewis Durell, who passed away in 1996. She was a member of the Cluster Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors are: sister, Nell Webster Floyd, of Waukeenah, Fla.; niece, Jane Webster Hamilton, of Paxton, Fla.; four nephews, Rev. Frank McIntosh, of Paxton, Fla., Rev. Jack Weldon Webster, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Frank Floyd and Bobby Floyd, both of Waukeenah, Fla.; several great- and great-great-grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, from Evans Funeral Home in Florala, Ala., with William Aplin and Lindsey Martin officiating. Interment will be in the Paxton Cemetery with Evans Funeral Home directing.
