The son of Nancy Anne Martin Barker and Jessie Barker.
He shares the stone with his wife, Arminta Ella Jenkins Barker.
Enlisted 14 February, 1863 by Captain MacGruder for the duration of the war. In his 'official' papers, there was a letter that read:
King and Queen County
April 21, 1864
Captain: I do most respectfully recommend that Private Benj. Barker of my company be detailed for 7 days to procure a horse, which I think he would get if allowed the detail.

There is also another letter dated December 20, 1864 which reads:
We do certify that we knew the horse of Pvt. Benj. Barker, Co.B, 24thRgt., and we appraised said horse at the time of mustering into the service at $2000.00. Signed Lt. Dietrich and 2ndLt. Jno. Alvis
Benjamin also had a brother that served in the same unit, David Barker. Another brother, William Edward Barker, fought with the 56th Virginia Infantry.
