Maureen Orcutt
Birth: Apr. 1, 1907
Death: Jan. 9, 2007

Golf Champion and Reporter. Born in New York city, Orcutt was the last surviving member of the first USA Curtis Cup team, a two-time USGA champion and a pioneer sports journalist. Orcutt won her first important championship, the Eastern Women's Amateur, in 1925 and her last, the USGA Senior Women's Amateur, in 1966. Her journalistic career included tournament coverage for The New York World and a sports column for The New York Times. Also Orcutt was selected for the first USA team that defeated Great Britain and Ireland in 1932. She died in Durham, North Carolina. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
