Richard Koebner was born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1910, the son of Richard Koebner and Barbara Fuchs, arriving in the United States at the age of 3 months aboard the SS Lapland sailing from Antwerp, Belgium. Both of his parents were of German ancestry. Richard Koebner's paternal line traces to his great-grandparents Edward & Johanna Koebner of Breslau, Prussia in the early 19th century. Richard Koebner was a lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and enjoyed an excellent reputation as a noted teacher, composer, arranger, conductor, and oboist throughout his lifetime. He married Anne Skornicka on Dec. 7, 1935 in Milwaukee. Richard & Anne Koebner had one daughter Barbara Anne born in 1936. Richard Koebner died in Milwaukee on Oct. 6, 2002 at the age of 92. His wife Anne Koebner died Oct. 15, 1991.
