Edward H. Bernot, 78, of 1423 Fourth Ave., Ford City died Monday, May 12, 2003 in the Kittanning Care Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1924 in Ford City to George and Ann (Maznik) Bernot.

Mr. Bernot was owner and operator of Bernot's Barber Shop, Ford City, for more than 50 years.

He was a member of Christ Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City.

An Army Air Corps veteran, he served during World War II. He was a disabled veteran.

He was a former school board member of Armstrong School District and a former president of Ford City Board of Health.

A volunteer at the Ford City Senior Center, he was well known for working with glass and repairing glass and also enjoyed golfing.

His other memberships were the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both of Ford City, where he was a life member; Eagles and Latin American Club, both of Ford City; Masonic Lodge 244, Kittanning and American Disabled Veterans Association.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline C. (Danihel) Bernot, whom he married June 7, 1947; one son, Thomas W. Bernot of Ford City; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Paula) Jack of Parker; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Bernot of Ford City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Paul, John, Joseph and Peter Bernot; three sisters, Ann Placha, Stella Maus and Kate Dragan; and two great-grandchildren.

BERNOT -- There will be no public visitation for Edward H. Bernot, 78, of 1423 Fourth Ave., Ford City, who died May 12, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Cleary, pastor of the church, officiating.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, East Franklin Township.
