Funeral services for Waldorf A. Smith, 81, of 610 Orange St., Monroe, were at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Pat Cahill officiating.
Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.
He died at Town and Country Nursing Center in Minden Tuesday after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Chicago, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an electronic engineer in New York City until his retirement in 1946 when he moved to Monroe. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Wesley Smith. Mr. Smith was a prominent attorney in Louisiana for years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jovita K. Smith of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Acele Batterdon [sic Batterton] of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Mary Frances Hargis of Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island, New York; one son, George Wesley Smith II of Dallas, Tex.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
