Enlisted from Virginia in spring of 1779 and served in Captain Richards Worsham's Co., Col. Merriwether's Virginia Regiment. Marched to Petersburg, then served as wagoner, went to Charleston, South Carolina and continued in service 18 months. In 1781 served 3 months in Captain Francis DeGraffenreid's Co. and later 3 months in Captain Jary's or Gery's Co. Discharged after surrender of Cornwallis.
