A native of Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse, he studied at the Minor Seminary of Québec and later at the Major Seminary odf Québec. On May 27, 1893, he was ordained a priest. From that date up to 1899, he taught History at the Minor Seminary. Then, he served as vicar in Montmagny in 1893, then becoming a teacher of history with the Small Seminar until 1899. Later, he served successively as vicar and pastor of various parishes in the archdiocese of Québec. He also served as Chaplain of the Catholic Trade Unions Confederation. Known for his administrative qualities, he was elected titulate Bishop of Doberus on June 23, 1927 and appointed auxiliary to the archbishop of Québec. He passed away in Québec in 1948.
