Zella Mae Gatton, daughter of Frank and Maggie (Addington) Parker, was born October 7, 1928, at Bunker Hill, Kansas. Her death occurred on February 21, 1980, at the Russell City Hospital. Her age 51 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Zella lived her entire life involved with farming and living on the family farm south of Bunker Hill. She received her basic education in the Wieldofield rural elementary school near the family home and graduated from Ellinwood High School. On May 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Louden Junior Gatton at Stafford, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children, Steven, Lee Jay and Lila Mae. Most of her married life was filled with the many activities of a farm housewife and mother. She was very involved in the activities of her children and assisted them and other children by her participation and leadership with the 4-H program. She was a leader of the Jayhawk 4-H club as well as helping on the county and district levels. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell and the Lutheran Church Women. She had also served the local LCW as Vice-President, President and Organizational Chairman. She had been reelected for a second term to the Executive Board of the Western District of the Central States Synodical Unit as well as delegate to the Triennial Convention of the Lutheran Church Women to be held in Altanta, Georgia, in August of this year. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Russell. She is survived by her mother, Maggie Parker of Russell, her children, Steven of McPherson, Lee Jay and his wife, Beverly, of Plano, Texas, and Lila Mae and her husband, Fred Abercrombie of Salina, Kansas. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. John (Viola) Wagner of Great Bend, Mrs. Marie Huff of Walnut Grove, Mo., and Mrs. Angelo (bett) Lucido of Danville, Calif., several relatives and a host of friends
