John Houston "J.H." or "Jay" Moore, Jr., 81, of Seymour passed away Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born September 2, 1935 in Knoxville, TN to his parents, John and Estalee Moore. Jay retired from the East Tennessee Packing Company. He had worked for Finchum Flooring and the Sevier County School System as well. He had a great affinity for his community and helped to build and establish Seymour High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Houston Moore, Sr., and Estalee Ballard Moore.
Jay is survived by his wife, Sylvia Carol Smith-Moore; sons, Johnny Ray Moore and wife, Tonya, and Ricky Jay Moore and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Ashley, Stacey, and Brylee Aldrich, Wesley and Emaline Presley.
Funeral Service 5 PM Tuesday, November 22nd in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Rev. Ed Cloud and Rev. Chris Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865 (577-2807). Interment 10 AM Wednesday in Atchley's Seymour Memory Gardens.
