Born in Meridian, she was a life resident of the Cato area. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Meridian Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Walter B. Calkins, died in 1994.
Survivors: Two sons, John Calkins of Supply, N.C., and Richard Calkins of Cato; a daughter, Jean White of Memphis; a brother, Nelson Purdy of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Jewell Funeral Home. Burial, Monumental Grove Cemetery, Meridian. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 13164 South St., Cato. Contributions: Cato Rescue Unit, Cato 13033.
