He attended school in New Paltz and went into banking. He served in the New York Senate in 1902. In 1904 he was Superintendent New York's building at the World's Fair in St. Louis. In 1904 Le Fevre was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Republican and served one term, 1905 to 1907. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1906, and returned to New Paltz to become President of the Huguenot National Bank. He also operated a fruit and dairy farm. In 1940 he moved from New Paltz to Atlantic City when he was found to be unable to pay debts of more than $200,000. He declared bankruptcy shortly before his death. Le Fevre was the son of Jacob Le Fever, who also served in Congress. (bio by: Bill McKern)
