Major Brownlee, 79, of Richton, died Friday, August 9, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Jones Fneral Home Chapel in Richton. Burial will follow in Frisco Cemetery. Rev. Howard Rogers will officiate. He was a logger. He received a Purple Heart in World War II and other honors and medals during the World War II conflict. He was preceded in death by a sister, Almeda Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Brownlee of Sand Hill; a son Barney R. Brownlee of Sand Hill; a daughter, Belva L. Ramey of Waynesboro; five sisters, Audrey Watson, Ethel Walley, both of Sand Hill, Mary Simpson, Alyce Rylee, both of Camden, and Juaniece Walley of Richton; a brother, Leonard Brownlee of Sand Hill; five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Brent J. Brewer, Jackson L. "Lee" Siddon, Bentley Brownlee, Lavon Watson, Lamar Ramey Jr. and Floyd Burnett. Honorary pallbearer will be Grant Brownlee. Visitation will be today at 5:30 p.m. untill 10 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home of Richton, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Note, Major Brownlee was the son of George W.and Alma Brownlee.
