MRS. JOSEPH EARP
Verdie Jane Bardrick was born in Madison county, Iowa, Sept. 18, 1888, and died Oct. 15, 1916, in the Edmondson hospital, following an operation for a tumor. Her early life was spent in Winterset with her parents, until 1908 when she was united in marriage to Joe Earp of Van Meter, where they lived until 1910, when they removed to Council Bluffs.
Besides her loving husband and two children: Opal, aged 7 and Earl, age 3, she leaves her mother, Mrs. C. Bardrick and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Goodwin of Summerfield, Kansas and Mrs. Metta Thornburg of Winterset, to mourn her absence; all being present at her bedside when she passed away.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed in the home and by a large circle of friends and neighbors. She was always of a pleasant disposition and always ready to look on the bright side of life. About four years ago, she united with the Church of the Brethren and died trusting her her Savior.
Funeral services were held from the Church of the Brethren, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. E. Schrock, after which the remains were taken to Van Meter, where a short funeral service was held and the remains laid to rest in the Van Meter cemetery.
