Susanna Saltzer married Jacob Peter Meyers in 1852 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The newlyweds first moved to Forreston, Ogle Co., Illinois where they lived until about 1862. Then Jacob relocated his harness business to the county seat of Carroll County, Mount Carroll, about twenty miles further west. But sometime after the birth of the youngest of their 13 children in 1873, Jacob and Susan made a permanent home in Ft. Dodge, Webster, Iowa.
