"Robert L. Hansen age 81, of Ames, died Tuesday November 1, 2016 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
He was born June 18, 1935 in Fremont to Harry and Ruth (Schrein) Hansen and grew up on the farm northwest of Fremont in the Ames area. He attended Hay Valley School, K through 6th grade, then attended Trinity Lutheran in Fremont for his 7th and 8th grade, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1953 where he was a star football player.
He began farming with his father, and hauled milk for Roberts Dairy. A short time later he went to work for Hormel’s, where he worked nearly 40 years, while continuing to farm.
On December 19, 1954, he was married in Trinity Lutheran Church to Meredith Nelsen, and they have lived on the Hansen farm in the Ames area since 1973.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Dodge County Humane Society."
