James “Jimmy” Garnett Stickles, Sr., 73, of Middleway, WV passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his residence.

Born November 29, 1942 in Middleway, WV, he was the son of the late Marshal Clinton Stickles and Hilda Moore Stickles.

He was of the Christian faith.

Jimmy was an accomplished 46 year carpenter who thoroughly enjoyed his work. He worked for Wrenn Construction in Reston, VA and M.L. Shores Construction in Lovettsville, VA.

Deer hunting was his passion and NASCAR ran a close second. He also loved to eat and raise cattle. After a stroke in 2003 his remarks from the church pew will be missed. Jimmy was loved by all and will be especially missed by Mark, his hunting buddy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Dorothy Gaynor Stickles, at home; one daughter, Kelly Wissinger and husband, Scott; one son, James “Jimmy” Stickles, Jr. and wife, Dawn; three grandchildren, David Giffin, Jr., Dylan Giffin and Lillian “Lilly” Stickles; one step-daughter, Joslyn Noland and husband, Daniel; one step-son, Franklin Ring; two step-grandsons, William Stocker and Patrick Noland, four step-granddaughters, Jessica Ring and Lori Turner, Danielle Patterson and Stacey Ring; two sisters, Jean Catrow and huband Butch and Joan Michael.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Betty Jane Stickles, one daughter, Tracy Dodson and one brother, Marshal “Sonny” Clinton Stickles, Jr.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with The Rev. Diane Day officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery in Middleway.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Catrow, Mark Hanes, James Stickles,Jr., David Giffin, Jr., David Liskey and M.L. "Spanky" Shores
