Fredrick N. Evans Sr.
Fredrick Neal Evans Sr., 75, of New Kensington died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) in his home.
Born Nov. 10, 1927, in Upper Burrell, he lived in New Kensington most of his life.
He was a 1944 graduate of New Kensington High School.
During World War II, he served with the Merchant Marines.
Mr. Evans was a machine operator at PPG Industries, East Deer, where he worked from 1947 to 1977.
He was a member of the American Legion in Lower Burrell, the Seventh Street Sportsman's Club and the Eagles in New Kensington.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and spending time with friends.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Jean Rowles Hirtz Evans; two sons, Fredrick N. Evans Jr. of New Kensington and Michael H. Evans of Reno, Nev.; a stepson, Russell (Madeline) Hirtz Jr. of New Kensington; a stepdaughter, Robin Barone of New Kensington; four step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Markovich and Mrs. Shirley (Thomas) Richey, both of Upper Burrell and Mrs. Bonnie (Kenneth) Shoop of Springdale.
Also surviving is a granddaughter, Sarah E. Evans.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Henry Evans in 1973; and his parents, Fred and Elizabeth Neal Evans.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., New Kensington, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gary G. Close, pastor of Puckety Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. The Seventh Street Sportsman's Club will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
