Howard
Frances M. Howard, 72, of Edwardsville, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 1983, at her residence.
She was born June 6, 1911, in Blackwater, Mo., a daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Briggs Chaplin.
She married Lee W. Howard Aug. 22, 1928. He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1976.
She is survived by one son, Barry R. Howard of Nacogdoches, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Weiss of Pocahontas, Mrs. Delmar (Dorothy) Kircher and Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Wilkinson, both of Edwardsville, and Gladys Raymond of Alexandria, Va.; four brothers, Andrew Chaplin of Mount Home, Ark., Charles Chaplin of Nice, Calif., Robert Chaplin of Rock Island, Ill., and Thomas Chaplin of Lockport, Ill.; one sister, Alice M. Brinton [1930-2009] of Peoria; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard was a member of Edwardsville Senior Citizens.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Mateer Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Doane, pastor of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Maryville, officiating.
Burial will be in Marine Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or to the Edwardsville Senior Citizen Center.
