Daughter of John Nash of Templeton Manor in Prince Edward County, Virginia. She married Clement Read, Jr. in 1757. She was known as "Mary Read Junior" because of her formidable mother in law "Mary Read Senior."
Clement Read, Jr. and Mary Nash Read had five children, Lieutenant Clement Read, III (1759-1781); Mary Hill Read (Bedford) (1761-1803); John Nash Read (1763-1826); Harrison Read (1766-1781); and Thomas Read (1768-1834).
