Terry is the son of Mae and Jim Thompson.
He graduated from Blair High School in 1957 and from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln in 1962.
In 1963 he married Sharon Dodson from Scottsbluff NE.
Throughout his professional career, he served as CEO of the Blair Memorial Community Hospital, Blue Cross Blue Shield Consultant and founded Better Living Counseling Services Inc.
He was a faithful member of the Blair United Methodist Church.
He served on various committees and was a life long member the choir, Zeta Psi Fraternity, Blair Lions Club, Pathfinder Chorus, National Guard and Blair Golf Club.
He was an avid sportsman who regularly attended Nebraska Football and Basketball games and played throughout the years on numerous basketball and golf leagues.
He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, but his greatest joy was attend the activities of his children and grandchildren.
