William J. Egner, 79, formerly of the Union and Huntley area, passed away Friday evening, December 15, 2006 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva.
He was born July 6, 1927 in Emporia, KS, the son of Karl and Besse (Buhrle) Egner. He was a graduate of Emporia State Teacher's College with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Bill married Mary L. Parkman on July 20, 1952 in Emporia. They resided in Kansas and Texas before moving to the Union/Huntley area in 1979.
Mr. Egner was a longtime chemical engineer working for the Coleman Co. and Southern California Chemical Co. before retiring from Revcor in Carpentersville. While working in Texas, Mr. Egner was also Justice of the Peace in Watauga, Texas and his children fondly recall the marriages that would take place in their former home. He was also a proud member of the NRA and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Surviving are a son, Stephen W. Egner of Sycamore; daughter, Patricia (Michael) Ream of Hampshire; two grandchildren, Jason Ream and Tamara Ream both of Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary on June 9, 1996; and a brother, K. B. Egner.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with Fr. Joseph Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to services Tuesday from 10 to 12 Noon service time.
