Anna Rhea Askew Starnes, age 95, of Newport, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Newport Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Detroit Gasket. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Starnes; infant son, Bobby Ray Starnes; infant daughter, Judy Gail Starnes; parents, William (Bill) and Lou Roberts Askew; infant brother, Charles William Askew; brother, Robert Allen Askew; sisters, Elizabeth Marie Carter and Edna Louise Sweeten; and son-in-law, Alvin Eugene Wise.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Starnes Wise; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Glennita Starnes; grandson and his wife, Travis and Katrina Starnes; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Nicole Starnes and Alyssa Ray-Ann Starnes; great-grandsons, Dakota Lawson and Chaz Lawson; sister-in-law, Grace Woodward; several nieces, nephews; other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2016 with funeral services following at 7:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Ron Carroll officiating. Burial will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Manes Funeral Home.
