PITTSFIELD, Mass./FRANKLIN, VT -- Gertrude Glidden, 86 of Pittsfield, Mass., died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Mount Greylock Care Facility. Born in Frelishburg, Quebec, daughter of the late John and Bertha (Bates) Glidden. She was educated in the Franklin school system. She moved to Pittsfield more than 50 years ago. Miss Glidden was employed by Hillcrest Hospital in the housekeeping department for many years before retiring. Gertrude was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wanesboro, Mass. She is survived by two brothers, Kenneth Glidden of Dalton, Mass. and Reuben Glidden of Franklin; and a sister, Ruth (Glidden) Gove of Gardener, Mass. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marjoria LeBlanc, Pearl Smart and Persis Seymour. Following cremation, burial will be in Franklin Family Lot at the convenience of the family in the spring. There will be no visiting hours.
